Enter your cost below for each energy source that you would like to compare with Consumers Energy natural gas. You may already know that the cost of some fuels, like propane and oil, can change significantly each time you fill your tank. So, to get a true comparison with these fuels, you should enter your average cost.

Fuel Cost Unit
  1. Click on the box to the right of the dollar sign for the fuel you want to compare with natural gas. For your convenience, you can compare as many fuels as you would like.
  2. Fuel costs for propane, oil, charcoal, and wood should be entered as dollars and cents per unit. For example, if your cost of propane is $2.50 per gallon, enter 2.50 in the box to the right of the dollar sign for propane. If your cost for wood is $50.00 per face cord, enter 50.00 in that input box.
  3. Inputs for electricity should be in dollars per kilowatt-hour. The input here should be just as it appears on your electric bill. For example, if your electric bill shows your cost per kWh as 0.090455, you should enter this number. If your total electric consumption on your bill is charged at different costs per kWh, use the average cost.
  4. Once you have entered your costs, click on the SHOW ME button and see how much less you could be paying with Consumers Energy natural gas. This comparison will include our current gas and distribution charge but not the $10.50 per month customer charge.*
