Why are there so many items listed on my electric bill?

The Customer Choice and Reliability Act (Public Act 141 of 2000) requires us to list separately each rate component of your electric bill, rather than combining them into several general line items. This is called unbundling.

Are you listing the same components for all customers?

Yes, although some customers may have more rate components listed than other customers, depending on the rate schedule under which the customer is taking service. 

How long will the items be listed separately on my bill?

These items will be listed separately on your bill until the Michigan Public Service Commission authorizes a change.

How can I make sure that I'm on the correct rate or that the charges on my bill are correct?

You can compare the rate code on your bill with this  list of rate descriptions  or, please feel free to send us an e-mail or call us at the number shown on your energy bill if you have additional questions.
