How Consumers Energy generates electricity.
Every day, our electric generating plant employees provide energy to more than 6 million people in all 68 of Michigan’s Lower Peninsula counties.
Our customers receive electricity made by fossil fuels such as coal, natural gas and oil as well as from nuclear, hydro, wind and renewable resources.
We also operate and partially own a pumped storage plant on Lake Michigan that can provide peak-demand power to 1.4 million people at a moment’s notice.
We’re committed to a clean environment,
sustainable energy and a solid economy. Balancing
these priorities is critical to Michigan’s future.
