Applicants should use the Common Grant Application, which may be downloaded in Adobe Acrobat or PDF format.
This checklist can help ensure your grant application moves through the process smoothly. To print the checklist, click here.
When preparing your application:
answer all questions on the application in the order listed
type and double-space your proposal
submit complete budget information (incomplete or missing financial
data will delay your application)
avoid sending videotapes or computer disks with your application
Include the following:
a clearly defined description of the program and if it is supported by the general public, businesses and other
foundations or governments
plans for evaluating the program
a realistic budget, including amounts requested and received from other sources
information about your organization, including a list of your board of directors
a copy of the IRS determination letter indicating 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status
timely and accurate contact information, such as the executive director, development director or a board member
a cover letter that introduces your organization and makes a strategic link between your grant proposal and one or
more of Consumers Energy Foundation’s five focus areas
