Grant Guidelines

 

  • grant guidelinesApplicants must be nonprofits located in Michigan that are classified as tax exempt under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.

  • Our principal focus areas include grants to nonprofits that serve communities in Michigan’s Lower Peninsula where Consumers Energy serves 2.9 million customers.

  • We consider requests from organizations located elsewhere for programs or projects that significantly benefit the state of Michigan and the communities served by Consumers Energy.

  • We award grants for capital funding and innovative projects and activities that align with our five focus areas: social welfare, community and civic development, education, Michigan growth and environmental enhancement, and culture and the arts.

  • All grant requests must be submitted in writing. We do not respond to telephone, email or fax requests.

  • Aplicants should use the Council of Michigan Foundations’ Common Grant Application.
