Since its beginning in 1885, Consumers Energy has focused on protecting and enhancing Michigan's unique natural heritage. The Consumers Energy Foundation continues to emphasize preservation, education and stewardship of our state's land, water and air. Of particular interest are programs that strengthen ties between businesses and communities.

Past grants have helped preserve rare savannas and lakeshore dunes, critical rivers and other natural resources.

Our employees and retirees earn Volunteer Investment Program grants for qualifying conservation clubs, nature centers and agricultural societies. They maintain nature trails, clean highways, streams and rivers, and create butterfly gardens.
