Energy efficiency is about using electricity and natural gas more effectively to get the most for your money while maintaining the same comfort and performance levels. Energy is wasted every day in homes without anyone knowing it. By installing energy efficient lighting and appliances you can stop the waste and save money. An energy efficient home costs less to run because you have lower utility bills every month. All it takes is a simple action such as switching to a compact fluorescent light bulb (CFL) or putting in an ENERGY STAR^® appliance and you can save energy and money for years to come. Plus, you’ll be helping support the environment.

Consumers Energy has made this commitment because it’s right for our families, for Michigan and for our future. Energy efficiency became a statewide initiative under the Clean, Renewable and Energy Efficiency Act of 2008. Now Consumers Energy is dedicated to offering customers a variety of new energy-saving opportunities, all under the program name, Consumers Energy Saving Solutions. This program is designed to help our customers use electricity and natural gas energy more efficiently, and save money in the process. These programs also create jobs in Michigan and provide long-term benefits to the environment. Plus, we’re also offering incentives for businesses.

Consumers Energy residential customers are eligible to receive product rebates. Consumers Energy electric customers may receive rebates on lighting, air conditioners, appliance recycling and ENERGY STAR^® products. Consumers Energy natural gas customers may receive rebates on heating and water heating products.

Because funds are capped each year, rebates will be offered until capacity has been reached. Once funds have been expended, Consumers Energy will not process rebate requests until the next fiscal year. Notification will be posted on the Web site as to when annual program caps have been met. Those who have submitted rebate forms after the caps have been met will not be reimbursed.

If you’re purchasing an eligible compact fluorescent light bulb (CFL) or CFL fixture, you’ll receive instant savings right in the store. Just visit one of our many participating retailers, and choose a qualified item from one of our specially marked displays. Eligible products will vary by retailer.

If you want to receive a rebate by recycling your second refrigerator or freezer, go to the Web enrollment pages established for Consumers Energy by JACO Environmental. There you’ll learn if you live in an eligible service area and can schedule a pick-up.
