This really is big picture thinking. Our whole home works together for energy efficiency. The Home Performance contractor really opened our eyes to that. Thanks.
Drain your water heater tank completely once a year. This will flush minerals and sediment from inside the tank and make your water heater more efficient.
Turn off hot water when you don’t need it. Don’t let it run when you wash or shave. And take a shower instead of a bath, you’ll use less hot water.
The first 3 feet of all water heater “out” pipes should be insulated as well as all hot water pipes in unfinished basements or crawl spaces.
Use an ENERGY STAR qualified water heater. Replacing your old water heater with a more efficient model can save you energy and money.
Every year, the ENERGY STAR program helps families save billions of dollars on their utility bills.
