Planet Power

From a gust of wind, a fast-moving river and the sun’s warm rays to fossilized remains of plants and dinosaurs, our planet offers many sources of power.

But as the world’s engineers and scientists discover more ways to make electricity, the 6 billion people on the Earth are using more power than ever before. This growing demand for energy also has raised concerns about the planet’s ability to sustain itself.

Some fuels used to make electricity are renewable or easily replenished. These include wind, solar, water/hydro and wood. Other fossil fuels such as coal, natural gas and oil are formed over millions of years and aren’t available once they are used. In addition, each fuel offers varying benefits and impacts to our environment.

Presented with these facts, we have important choices to make. We can use less and conserve, or we can use energy more wisely and practice energy efficiency. See how you can help our planet today and help your parent’s save a little money on their energy bill along the way.
