For Grant Seekers

Thank you for your interest in Consumers Energy’s charitable giving.

RobotLast year, Michigan nonprofits received $8 million in contributions from Consumers Energy, its employees, retirees, foundation, and CMS Energy, the parent company of Consumers Energy.

Our Volunteer Investment Program grants totaled $221,225 to 430 nonprofits for which our employees and retirees volunteer.

New in 2013, the company also recognized group volunteerism with 45 Caring for CommunityTM grants totaling $11,250 on behalf of 697 employee volunteers. This new opportunity allows groups of five or more employees and/or retirees to volunteer for a qualified non-profit organization and receive a $250 grant for that organization. This program is part of Our Promise to Michigan, which includes supporting our neighbors and caring for our communities.

Our Matching Gifts Program also provided more than $110,200 across the state to match employee and retiree donations to:

  • 28 educational institutions
  • 15 community foundations
  • 65 food banks, food pantries and homeless shelters
