Help Stabilize Electric Demand

MISO is asking everyone to try and use less electricity right now.

Our shared electric grid operator, MISO, has asked all customers in Michigan and other states in their region to reduce electric use. For updates and to find out when normal electric use can start again, visit our social media, customer app or website.

Why are You Being Asked to Reduce Electricity Use?

Reducing electric use now helps make sure there is enough supply until more energy can be made. If customers do not reduce their energy use now, it could lead to power outages across multiple states.

What is Consumers Energy Doing to Help?

We are operating all our available generation sites and have started using less energy at our locations across the state. Earlier today, we asked our customers in energy saving programs to reduce their use. At the request of MISO, we are now asking all customers to help.
