What is Demand Response?

As temperatures fluctuate with the changing seasons, the amount of electric demand fluctuates, too. For a majority of the year, electric demand is lower than the available electric supply. However, in the summer months, there is not always enough capacity to meet the high demand. On rare occasions when this happens, we call it a Demand Response event, and program participants help us reduce demand to meet supply.

Key benefits

  • Get paid for participation, even if no event occurs
  • Earn bill credits for load reductions
  • 24/7 near real-time energy use monitoring
  • Advance notifications of Demand Response events
