Shift Your Energy Use and Save

When you join the Commercial & Industrial Demand Response program, you earn bill credits for agreeing to reduce energy use on event days. That’s when electricity demand is at its highest, which puts strain on the energy grid. By participating, you can help keep energy affordable and accessible for your whole community.

Event days happen:

• Between 11 a.m. and 7 p.m.
• Weekdays in June – August
• No more than 5 times a year

You’ll work with an Energy Solutions Manager to come up with an energy reduction plan that works for your business. That way, you’ll be ready when an event day happens. And if no event days occur, you’ll still get annual bill credits.

Many businesses can curtail energy use without interrupting a normal workday. Here are some simple ways that businesses have cut down on use:

• Utilizing your generator to offset load
• Turning down HVAC in non-essential work areas
• Adjusting your thermostat 2 – 4 degrees

Get access to real-time energy use monitoring:

• Nominate more than 100 kW of energy use savings
• Monitor your energy use in real time, even when it’s not an event day
• Save even more on energy costs

That way, you know if you meet your reduction goal on an event day. In fact, this tool helped one company achieve a 6% overall energy use reduction… which resulted in $48,000 in savings. That helps your bottom line… and Michigan’s future.
