SAGINAW, Mich., Jan. 8, 2019 – Consumers Energy has begun the first of two electric projects along East Genesee Avenue near North Franklin Street in downtown Saginaw to upgrade infrastructure and enhance reliability for customers.
The initial work will allow the company to finalize underground electric cable upgrades later this spring to better serve current and future electric needs of customers in the downtown and surrounding area.
A Consumers Energy authorized contractor, Lodestar, is performing the infrastructure work including the installation of underground concrete structures to house new electric cable as well as two new manholes. This project should be completed by Feb. 18, with installation of electric cables taking place in the April-May timeframe.
In order to safely perform this work, two road closures are necessary. The patience and cooperation of downtown workers and those traveling through the area is appreciated. See the attached map for more details. Road closures include:
