Consumers Energy is committed to the health and safety of our co-workers, customers and communities. The COVID-19 virus has created unprecedented circumstances around the world, and we have implemented numerous measures in an attempt to slow the spread of this illness.
Unfortunately, we had a natural gas construction employee working in Oakland and Macomb counties test positive today for COVID-19. This employee did not have customer interactions and did not report to a Consumers Energy Service Center in their role.
We have alerted co-workers at the impacted workgroup and others who may have come into contact with the individual.
“We are very saddened by this news,” said Patti Poppe, president and CEO of Consumers Energy. “We are continuing to support not only the employee who tested positive but also other potentially affected employees to ensure their health and well-being are prioritized during this time.”
Steps we have taken:
We will continue to take precautions to help ensure Michigan stops the spread of COVID-19. We take our role seriously as we provide essential services to our Michigan neighbors and all work through this situation together.
Consumers Energy, Michigan’s largest energy provider, is the principal subsidiary of CMS Energy (NYSE: CMS), providing natural gas and/or electricity to 6.7 million of the state’s 10 million residents in all 68 Lower Peninsula counties.
