Consumers Energy is prepared to keep the power on for polling stations across Michigan on Election Day, Tuesday, Nov. 5, even as stormy weather threatens to roll in overnight.
Consumers Energy has crews ready to respond overnight and through the day Tuesday in case forecasted wind gusts that could reach 50 mph cause outages across the state. Heavy rain is expected overnight, while high winds are could develop Tuesday afternoon in West and Northern Michigan.
Consumers Energy is taking additional steps to ensure the voting process is not interrupted.
“We understand the importance of keeping the power on, particularly Tuesday as Michiganders finish casting their ballots in this election,” said Chris Laird, Consumers Energy’s vice president of electric distribution. “Our crews are ready for immediate dispatch, and we’ll prioritize any situation that could affect the voting process.”
