Heat Loss Awareness Program

Program Overview

We are helping customers save energy and money, create a more comfortable home, and even contribute to a more sustainable future for all who live in Michigan. Residential customers can access a wide range of rebates to make homes more efficient.

We have partnered with MyHEAT to bring a Home Heat Loss Awareness Program to an area in Michigan. During the program, residents will be randomly selected to receive options to access insights about their home's heat loss and how it compares to similar homes. The goal is to raise awareness around energy efficiency through MyHEAT’s educational platform and connect residents to available rebates to help with the next steps on their energy-saving journey.

Frequently Asked Questions

Who is MyHEAT and what is the program offering?

MyHEAT empowers customers, helping them save energy by addressing one of the biggest hurdles faced when improving their home's energy efficiency–its invisibility.

MyHEAT offers an educational platform to help customers see their home’s heat loss from a bird’s-eye view, compare it to similar homes in their area, and then connect to rebates available through Consumers Energy to help them save energy. Residents are provided with options to see airborne thermal data and a unique and comparable heat loss score generated with award-winning machine learning techniques. As an energy consumer, you will not only save money and energy, but also improve your home comfort.

Why am I receiving this information?

We have partnered with MyHEAT to promote awareness of energy efficiency and help customers save energy as part of a new program. Not all residents will be able to access home heat loss details during the program period.

You may be receiving general information about this program that provides you with a unique link to your home profile to learn more about your home’s heat loss and energy saving opportunities. This information is provided for educational purposes only and you are not required to complete any actions if you receive engagement through this program. We do recommend, however, learning more about available rebate programs.

If you would like to opt-out of this program, please email hello@myheat.ca.

How do I access the platform/where is my access code?

Details will be provided via paper mail or an email, in the format you receive your energy bill from Consumers Energy.

  • If you received access details by mail, please visit heat.myheat.ca/consumers and enter your unique access code to view your home profile.
  • If you received an access code by email, simply click the “My Home Profile” button.

Forgot your access details? Visit heat.myheat.ca/consumers and click “Forgot your access code?”

How and when was this data collected?

Thermal data was collected using a world-class sensor in January 2021 for homes within the program area. Data is collected with a plane at night when the outside temperature is right around freezing. The collection method is similar to how Google Maps are created and MyHEAT's sensor cannot see into homes or through structures to preserve the privacy of customers.

With thermal data, MyHEAT identifies where heat loss is occurring from a bird’s-eye view. This is done using machine learning algorithms, and the final result is the creation of unique heat loss ratings and heat loss maps for individual buildings–offered to customers through an educational platform.

I no longer want to receive this information. How do I opt-out?
