On Jun. 2, 2026, we asked the Michigan Public Service Commission to approve new electric rates to cover these costs. If approved, the average home with a monthly electric bill of $155 would see an estimated monthly increase of $13 (9%) starting in May 2027.

On October 15, 2026, the Michigan Public Service Commission approved new natural gas rates to cover these costs. Starting in November 2026, the average home with a monthly natural gas bill of $88.43 will see an estimated monthly increase of $4.02 (4.5%).
