Manage your energy use and maintain your comfort without lifting a finger. The Peak Power Savers Smart Thermostat Program syncs with your Wi-Fi enabled smart thermostat to learn your comfort preferences. On select summer days, we'll pre-cool your home and help you use less energy when energy costs are more expensive.
Saving couldn’t be easier. You get $75 when you enroll, and $25 when the summer is over.
You own a smart thermostat (or want to purchase one) and want effortless savings.
We’ll install a switch on or near your outside central air conditioning unit. On select days in the summer we’ll start a cycling event that will run your air conditioner for shorter periods, but still keep your home comfortable. When the event is over, your air conditioner will return to normal. You’ll earn $32 in credits on your summer energy bills every year you participate in the program.
You don’t own a smart thermostat, and want to automatically earn bill credits on select hot summer days.
With Peak Time Rewards, earn bill credits on up to 19 Energy Savings Event Days per year by shifting energy use away typically from 2 – 6 p.m., Monday through Friday. This can be as simple as running your dishwasher in the morning or doing laundry at night. The more you shift, the more you earn.
You want to manage your energy use on Energy Savings Days by making simple adjustments like setting your thermostat to a higher temperature, or delaying the use of your electric clothes dryer.
With Critical Peak Pricing, you receive a discounted rate (18% lower) for 19 hours per day, and weekends, during the months of June – September. The more you shift your weekday energy use away from 2-7 p.m., the more you'll save.
In exchange, we ask you to reduce your energy use up to 14 times from June – September. These are typically hot summer days when energy use is at its highest due to air conditioning. During these event hours, you will be charged $1.00/kWh of energy used – so the more you shift, the more you save!
You want to maximize your savings by managing your energy use. Best if you are confident you can shift energy use on Energy Savings Days.
With our Electric Water Heater program, Consumers Energy will install a small device near your electric water heating unit. When a cycling event is happening, your electric water heater will turn off but the hot water in your tank will still be available for use. After the cycling event ends, your unit will resume normal operations. An incentive will be paid upon enrollment and monthly for participation in the program.
You are comfortable giving some control to Consumers Energy to handle occasional cycling events.
With our Generator Program, a small device will be installed on your generator’s automatic transfer switch. During a limited number of days, up to 50 hours annually, Consumers Energy will activate the device, which will change the source of power to your home from the grid to your generator. An incentive will be paid upon enrollment and monthly for participation in the program.
You are comfortable allowing Consumers Energy to handle your generator use for less than 50 hours per year.
