Helping Neighbors Program: Energy Efficiency Assistance
Helping Our Neighbors Save
You’re ready to save money and energy, but everyday expenses don’t leave any room in your budget. Good news–you may qualify for our free in-home energy assessment and upgrades.
Enjoy the Money-Saving Benefits of Helping Neighbors for Free
If you have a qualifying household income, our Helping Neighbors program can help your family save energy and money while improving the comfort of your home.
Through the program, an expert energy analyst will assess your home’s energy efficiency for free. They’ll then offer to perform free energy upgrades. These may include insulating pipes — even installing free LED bulbs, showerheads and kitchen and bathroom faucet aerators (eligibility determined at the time of your Helping Neighbors appointment - you must receive natural gas service from Consumers Energy to qualify). You’ll also receive tips on how you can save more energy on your own.
We had an excellent experience with Brian! Very thorough, efficient and knowledgeable. We felt very comfortable having him in our home. The program is very beneficial.
Tell Your Neighbors
Help us spread the word about the Helping Neighbors program. It works best when we build relationships with local organizations within the communities we serve. Please tell your neighbors, landlord and your community organization about our free assessments and cost-saving upgrades to income-qualifying households.
If you rent your home, you may still qualify for the Helping Neighbors program. If your building has four or fewer connected units and you meet the household income qualifications, ask your landlord to fill out the program consent form, then you’ll be eligible to participate.
If your building has five or more connected units, please tell your property manager about this program and ask them to contact us. We may be able to install energy saving products in all your building’s units for free.
Check Your Eligibility
The Helping Neighbors program serves those with a qualifying household income and who live in areas currently served by natural gas or combined natural gas and electric service. You can participate if you live in a single-family home, mobile home, or apartment or condo with four or fewer connected units.
If you live in a multifamily building with five or more connected units, tell your property owner or manager about our Multifamily program or ask them to call us at 877-813-9617 to learn about free assessments and upgrades available for your building. Check out the chart below to see if you qualify.
