Appliance Recycling Rebates

How to get old, energy inefficient refrigerators and freezers out of your home and earn rebates. Let us pick up and recycle your appliances.

Recycle Your Old Appliances for Cash

Don’t let those old appliances in your garage or basement waste energy and money. Let us recycle them and pay you up to $50 in rebates.

How to Recycle and Earn a Rebate

Residential Consumers Energy electric customers can receive $50 for each eligible refrigerator or freezer recycled. Plus $15 for each eligible room air conditioner or dehumidifier.* Here’s how:

1. Check That Your Appliances Are Eligible

Your old appliances could be adding up to $150 a year to your energy bill. But don't toss them — if they’re clean and in working condition, we'll pick them up for free and give you a rebate. Each home is limited to recycling two large and four small units every calendar year. See eligibility requirements below.

Eligibility Requirements

2. Schedule Appliances for Pick-Up

Once you have confirmed your appliances are eligible, it’s time to schedule a pickup. At the time of pickup someone at least 18 years or older must be present to sign for the release of appliances for recycling. To get started, just click the button below or call us at 888-990-2246.

Schedule Now

*Please note, recycling is only available to Consumers Energy electric customers. Room air conditioners and dehumidifiers must be picked up for recycling at the same time as a refrigerator or freezer.

Recycling your fridge can help the environment since newer fridges only use a third of the energy old fridges use

How Recycling Your Fridge Helps the Environment

  • 95% of the material from old fridges can be used to create new products.
  • Recycling 25,000 fridges is about as equal to removing CO2 from 50,000 cars a year.
  • Old fridges use three times the energy of newer fridges.
