What We Don't Sponsor

We give to causes that align with our commitment to people, planet, and prosperity. As such, we generally do not sponsor or fund:

  • Athletic tournaments or recreational leagues
  • High school sports teams or booster clubs
  • Golf outings or fundraising tournaments
  • Parent-Teacher Organization (PTO) events
  • School band boosters or similar extracurricular clubs
  • Animal shelters or pet-focused organizations
  • Individual or family-based fundraising efforts
  • Political, religious, or fraternal organizations
  • Organizations or events outside of Michigan

While these categories may fall outside our corporate sponsorship priorities, eligible nonprofits may still benefit from employee giving programs, such as:

  • Matching Gifts – Consumers Energy Foundation matches employee and retiree donations to qualifying nonprofits.
  • Volunteer Investment Program (VIP) Grants – Employees and retirees who volunteer with eligible organizations may apply for grants to support their efforts.
  • Caring for Community Grant – Team-based volunteer service for an eligible organization by five or more employees or retirees earns a $250 grant.

These programs show our commitment to empowering employees and retirees to support causes they care about in their communities.
