Natural Gas

Getting More BTUs for Your Buck

We’ve got your back. When we negotiate most natural gas contracts in the spring and summer, we remember that you count on us to keep your energy bills manageable through even the most brutal winters. We buy natural gas during the cooling season specifically because demand is low, and typically prices are lower. We then pass that savings on to you. We buy all of the gas we need and make no profit on sales.

Consumers Energy is one of the largest natural gas distribution companies in the country, with more than 28,000 miles of natural gas pipeline to which we’re making significant investments. That means we can shop and move natural gas quickly, safely and efficiently. The fuel is stored in huge underground natural gas fields in the Lower Peninsula until needed. These company assets are key to keeping natural gas affordable.
